Monday Night was a cold one, but that didn’t stop Liberty Eylau from waking up the bats and putting together a huge second inning that scored 6 runs! The leopards never looked back, tacking onto their total every inning. Pine Tree put forward a great effort in the late innings bringing themselves within striking distance of Liberty eylau. In these moments, Coach Zach Fowler would look to his veteran Leadership to step up at the plate. The call was answered by none other than Gage Belatti, who filled the box score with RBI’s. Other big time at bats were created by Cal Jones, WT Jones, Xander Wother, and Zander Hall! Liberty Eylau was solid defensively; Led by winning pitcher, WT Jones who was given the nod to start the game. In order to keep pitch counts low, Jones delivered two knockout innings on the bump before being moved to second base. Jones being removed early gave Coach Fowler the opportunity to showcase his bullpen, and that he did. Four different arms would take the mound and carry out what Jones started. Liberty Eylau finished the ballgame on top of Pine Tree 10-7. The Gameday crew caught up with Coach Fowler after the game, and he left us with this “I always love a win, but we’ve got some cleaning up to do.” The Leopards will be back in action right here in Texarkana starting Thursday as they enter the Border Battle Tournament, and face off against a few teams from across State Lines.
